Neurodivergent resources are commonly written by Neurotypical individuals and based on a deficit model of disability. The advantage of working with Ocelot Consulting, as a Neurodivergent-led consultancy, is not only do we draw from Neurodivergent lived experience, but each member of the team has academic and professional experience. We ensure that each member of our team is trained in Neurodivergent-affirming practices and is trauma informed.

We collate existing resources to give you the best of the best in current Neurodivergent-affirming practice and policy. Guest Speaker 

From guest lecturing in higher education to after dinner speaking, we offer insightful, educative and entertaining talks. Drawing on live experience of Neurodivergence and disability we bring a range of talks designed to be Neurodivergent-affirming, informative and engaging. Our guest speaking service offers guest lectures focusing on academic literature tailored to the individual audience - from primary schools to post graduates to social interest groups. Our after dinner speaking service offers a mix of educational, anecdotal and humorous tales of living as a Neurodivergent person in a Neurotypical world. Training

Neurodiversity 

The term Neurodiversity is becoming more and more common. In its simplest form Neurodiversity is a theory that there is a wide and varied difference with how people’s cognition works and how they perceive and process the world around them. People whose cognition is valued and prized within the society they live in are called Neurotypical. People whose cognition is not valued or prized within society are called Neurodivergent. These are called Neurotypes. Some Neurodivergences can be diagnosed such as Autism, ADHD, Tourette’s, dyslexia, acquired brain injury and stroke to name a few, however these Neurodivergences can exist without diagnosis or with self-diagnosis. Some Neurodivergences are not diagnosed but are still Neurodivergences such as long-term psychedelic use or long term dedicated meditation.

Neurodiversity moves away from the idea that there is one way to be in the world. The theory suggests that in order to have a functional society all kinds of Neurotypes are needed. This moves away from the idea that Neurodivergent people have deficits that need to be corrected to a model that supports and embraces everyone.
