This book combines theoretical philosophy with tangible real world, lived experience. Yergeau outlines Neurodivergence as an identity-Neuroqueerness, rather than a impairment. The book dives into the denial of Autistic people's humanity and the ability for Autistic people to be able to define themselves. Yergeau explores the early behavioural interventions, drawing connections to Gay conversion therapy, as a form of Neuronormative abuse. Through the use of story telling, Yergeau presents the narrative that Autistic people are best placed to define their experiences. By exploring the concept of rhetoric, Yergeau outlines how Autistic people queer rhetoric, humanity and agency.
